Burlesque Beauty: Wheels and Dollbaby

The burlesque-inspired look made popular by our fave style icon Dita Von Teese is super-sexy and feminine, in short a desirable trend for any girls out there who love a bit of glamour. Whilst Dita might make it look simple don’t be fooled, this is not an easy look to pull off, simply donning red lipstick, fishnets, and lace will most likely leave you looking more like a fashion fatality than femme fatale. Help is at hand however in the shape of Australian label; Wheels and Dollbaby.

Julie Verhoeven Takes on the Medusa for Versace Spring 2009

Julie Verhoeven has developed a cult following for her whimsical fashion illustration style — she's designed limited-edition bags for Louis Vuitton, capsule collections for Mulberry, and for Spring 2009, Donatella Versace commissioned her to rework the Versace iconography. The result? Colorful, cartoonish Medusas scrawled across bags, gowns, and swimwear, sure to be as coveted as those Prada fairy bags from Spring 2008.

Malibu Mag: Some Things Haven't Changed For Marissa Miller

Three years ago, Marisa Miller was featured on the pages of Malibu Magazine. Now she's back with a of lot changes in her life. She got married, became a Victoria's Secret Angel, took up boxing and designed a line of sneakers for Vans, Inc. She was also involved in Young Survival Coalition, an international nonprofit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters dedicated to the concerns and issues that are unique to young women with the disease.

However, she confessed in the magazine that some things haven’t changed. She still likes to do the laundry, she still loves to surf and, despite her wildly successful year, is still a super-down-to-earth human being.

London Fashion Week: Bernard Chandran

Bernard Chandran is running up his sixth season at London Fashion Week, and it’s obvious why the fashionista’s keep wanting more. For his SS09 the theme was Eastern Pop Culture versus Asia, without the clichés often witnessed at the mention of the orient.

London Fashion Week: SADO

SADO presented their Spring/Summer 09 collection this week to much applause. The utterly wearable line had strong influences from tropical art deco Miami with a colourful palette of blues, pinks, salvia green and brick orange.

London Fashion Week: Aminaka Wilmont

As winners of last seasons Fashion Fringe trophy Aminaka Wilmont have quickly established a name for themselves, most often associated with avant-garde shapes and innovative use of fabrics. There was certainly an air of anticipation amongst the audience as the onset of heavy guitar music boldly indicated the beginning of their second showing London Fashion week; ‘Perfect Imperfection.’

VLP

Victoria Bartlett is the designer behind VPL (Visible Panty Line), shown here at the conclusion of her S/S '09 women's wear presentation at Bumble & Bumble during New York Fashion Week. It's a super cool collection that has won lots of awards. The concept is to take underwear inspiration into garments with an evolved and mature idea of sexiness. S/S '09 looked to aviation and parachuting in inject volume and detailing.

Tough as Nails

I'm currently loving the styling of Alternative Apparel's "Alternative Earth" collection as shown on the website. It has a sort of desert/military theme, and I think it looks laid-back, grungy, and slightly badass. In other words, it's just plain cool.

London Fashion Week: Olanic

The show started with a rainstorm, ok it was lighting and but this was to set the theme of the quirky weather girl. The collection was certainly quirky but entirely wearable.

Fall Picks

We are living in a modern world, dear readers. A world in which vending machines dispense iPods, taxicabs accept American Express, and where with a click of the mouse, we can partake in a serious shopping expedition without setting foot in a department store. In the myriad of online boutiques and vendors across the world wide web, Net-A-Porter.com reigns as one of the top stops for shopping. The site is constantly stocked with the best brands in fashion and, best of all, you can try on your purchases at home and return free-of-charge if something doesn’t fit! But, before you get swept away in the site’s irresistible offerings, we’d like to share a few of the fantastic fall picks from The Editors at Net-A-Porter. Happy shopping!

London Fashion Week: Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Even standing in the queue for this show was an event; it was a who’s who of celebsville, from Pamela Anderson to Mischa Barton to Kate Moss to Erin O’Connor and Dita Von Teese, yes they were all there en masse. Oh, and I must add that Dita really is flawless.
So, on with the clothes and the curiously long catwalk (the models must have been exhausted). To say I was excited is an understatement but I am very pleased to report that the Grande Dame of fashion did not disappoint.

Fashion Week Highlights : 2009

Just the thought of fashion week alludes to thoughts of elegantly dressed critics, uber thin models, incredibly long catwalks, and nervous designers. Or maybe that's just what I think of when "fashion week" crosses my mind =).
